Committee Minutes November 30, 2006
Members Present Michele King Alan King Jennifer Moenter Tracy Oberdorf Shawn Oberdorf Neil Chandler
Hi All,
First, I'd like to say THANK YOU to those boys and parents who sold popcorn along with having their orders and money turned in on time. You helped earn our pack over $1800.00. It's a great relief to know that we now have money to generate this pack. This money will pay for every boys advancements.... which is VERY expensive and any thing else we will need for the next year! As I've said before, this is the ONLY means of funds for our pack, so it's extremely important to sell, Yes, it is a pain in the rump, but is a necessary fund raiser....
Remember, for those boys who sold over $200.00, they get their choice of one leader to pie in the face. This will take place at the Christmas Party. Also, the drawing for the Camping / CubScout goodie basket will take place at this time as well.
As we approach the Holidays, things within the Pack will be slacking off. We only have a few things planned for the month.
At the beginning of the Scouting Year, the committee decided that each boy should learn how to help others.... in Scouting this is called Good Turn For America. Each boy should complete the recommended number of service projects in order to earn the Good Turn For America patch... the way we decided this was.... a boy in 1st grade should complete one service project, a boy in second grade should complete 2 service projects, a boy in 3rd grade should complete 3 service projects, 4th grade - 4 service projects, 5th grade - 5 service projects. This is a patch that can be added on to year after year.
The pack's first project is coming up on Saturday December 9 @ 12:30. We will be helping the Habitat for Humanity by landscaping. Everyone should meet there, I will send directions to the housing at a later time.
Here are some other projects you can do as a family:
The Base Chapel is collecting new and used CLEAN blankets. Need to be to the Chapel by December 11.
Airman Holiday Cookie Drive - place cookies in lobby sleigh at the O' Club December 5 - 7.
Friday December 15, 5:30 at the Community Center will be our Christmas Party.... We will have another book exchange this year. Each Scout should bring a new wrapped book... $5 limit and a dessert - enough to share with the pack.
Our annual Pinewood Derby is coming up in January.... however, the funds to race are due by the 15th of December. The cost to race in the Derby will be $4.00. Please pay for this within your next two Den meetings. You will not have to purchase the car kit, our special guest at the Christmas Party will be handing these out to the boys. For those of you who are new to Scouting, and don't know much or anything about the Pinewood Derby, please research it. You can go to Google, type in pinewood derby history and it will bring up numerous sites that will help you understand what it is. After you research the derby, feel free to research it further, type in Pinewood derby and it will bring up even more sites with pictures of different cars that have been made and helpful insight on how to build a better race car.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CONTACT ME OR SOMEONE ELSE WHO SERVES ON THE COMMITTEE.
