Attention All Leaders

 

–Announcement that Michele Shedlock will be Pack Secretary and take minutes of all meetings (starting now!).

–Leader calendar books were distributed to all den leaders.

–Round-up lower enrollment than last year. Den assignments where needed, will be handled by Michele Appleby along with Rich & Bill Lobdell, trying to keep scouts from the same school together. Would like to implement a Buddy System. Some concerns about scouts with special needs, Helen Levine will add them to her den because she knows the children, and is familiar with their needs, and the children should be more comfortable with her. Laura Williams volunteered that she is fluently bilingual (English/Spanish) if the need for interpretation should arise.

–Michele Appleby asked for names and email addresses for all assistant den leaders to be added to our roster.

–OCTOBER PACK MEETING–First Pack Meeting Hosted by Den 6. Uniform Inspection. Tommy Valus, Rich Kovach Jr., Fred Kaesman, and John Valus Sr. will inspect the uniforms. Yankee Candle dropoff tonight. Mummy Making !

–YANKEE CANDLE FUNDRAISER– DUE at October Pack Meeting from those who didn’t pay the $20.00 opt-out.

   Michele Shedlock suggested using a different company for fundraising next year. Although Yankee Candle is a wonderful fundraiser several other organizations and schools in Stratford do this fundraiser at the same time. Michele will research other fundraising options and present at a future meeting.

 

–SOUND TIGERS NIGHT– November 23rd. Scouts are free. Michele Appleby needs to write one check for all of the tickets. As a reminder, there is NO ALCOHOL served at scouting events. Please refer to your Leader Book, Chapter 8, Administration - Policies of Cub Scouting. "The BSA prohibits the use of alcoholic beverages and controlled substances at any activity involving the participation of youth members. Please keep in mind this also includes events that are attended by the scouts where alcohol my be served to the public, such as at a Hockey event.

 

 

:  –WREATH FUNDRAISER- -Rich Craven is looking at several sources for our wreaths this year. Possibly raising price to $14.00. Rich will get a price quote using 800, 900 and 1000 wreaths as a number. Will confirm price. -Question of location for wreath sale, Helen Levine will confirm Eli Whitney for Thanksgiving weekend, November 23-25.

 

 

 

Pack Finanaces:  Helen Levine reported that the pack went significantly over budget last year. Possibly eliminating wreath fundraiser incentives, or no gift for Blue & Gold. Several spoke up against eliminating incentives. Possibly reduce the incentives. Further discussion tabled until next meeting. .

 

:  –WOW CAMPOUT– 15 Webelos going. Troop 71 Hosting. Meeting for all who plan to go at Congressional Church corner of Main & Church Street, Monday October 15th, at 7:00 pm. Collecting food money $15.00 per scout, $10.00 per adult.

 

:  –FISHING DERBY– Need coordinator. Tabled to next meeting. Flyers handed out with preliminary information. April 5 & April 12, 2008

 

:  –MYSTIC SLEEPOVER– Flyers handed out with preliminary information. April 25, 2008 50 spaces reserved. $50.00 per person.

 

:  –WEBSITE– Julie Kovach will be handling the website. Website last updated in August. New Server as of September 26, waiting for access. Julie will put minutes of each meeting on the website after she receives them from Michele Shedlock.

LUCKY SCOUT –Michele Appleby will handle purchases forLucky Scout for the Pack meetings.Each hosting den should bring slips of paper and container for scouts to sign in.

PROGRAMS –Julie Kovach will make programs for each Pack Meeting. Den Leaders can give Julie their information at the Parents meetings or email to her. One page of the program will have the agenda for the evening, the back will list upcoming Pack 172 events to remember.

 

:  –John Valus is now an adult Youth Protection Trainer. He has offered to present the training to all leaders (which is a requirement) and any interested parents at an upcoming parent meeting (TBA) this is a 45 minute training session.

–MOVIE NIGHT will be discussed at an upcoming meeting.

–The possibility of a Pack Talent Show will be discussed at an upcoming meeting.

:  Rich Kovach has volunteered to attend the October 9th roundtable. Mike Matis has volunteered to attend the November 15th roundtable.

 

Monthly Parents Planning Meeting::  November Planning Meeting will be November 7, 2007 7:30-8:30 St. Mark School Library.
