the Scouts. The entrant is to have the
satisfaction of building his own car from the materials in the kit. Guidance and reasonable assistance
should be given when needed, particularly when using sharp tools. Please remember however that this is a race for the Scouts, not for their
parents**.
17. As previously
stated, while assistance from an adult is highly recommended for tasks such as
cutting, carving, drilling, etc., this is a project for the boys to do. At the time of the check in or at the
“pre-race” weight-in, if the entry judges feel that adult participation far
exceeded the spirit of this rule, that particular car may be disqualified from
running. If the judges do make this
recommendation, the issue will be decided by a three-person panel consisting of
the Cubmaster, the Derby Event Chairman and one
additional Den Leader.
18. Car Name -
Typically all Scouts get to name their car.
Use your imagination you will need to provide the name of your car on
race day.
19. In the event
your original race kit gets damaged during construction, additional car kits
may be purchased from the Pack for $3.00.
20. In the event
of a dispute or an official ruling required during or post the actual derby, a
final decision will be rendered by a three person panel consisting of the Cubmaster, the Derby Event Chair and one additional Den
Leader.
** Adult and sibling
races will follow the conclusion of the pack derby. Additional cars may be purchased from the
pack and built under the guidelines above.
