Family Camping Trip ~ June 16-18, 2007 |
|
|
Our annual family camping trip will be held on June 16-18 at Greenbriar State Park in Washington County, Maryland. The Park is located 10 miles east of Hagerstown, on U.S. Route 40. It is accessible from I‑70 via the Myersville Interchange. Greenbrier St. Park is a multi‑use park and has a 42‑acre, man‑made lake and beach, bathhouse and modern campsites. Visit http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/western/greenbrier.html for information on the Park. Camp setup is on Friday, late afternoon. We will have a lite dinner (sandwiches) and an activity after setup on Friday evening. We are planning to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast (and maybe a lunch snack) on Sunday. Camp breakdown and site cleanup will be from 10am to 12 noon on Sunday. Family camping is a group participation event (we need everyone's help). Each family (of up to four members) should plan on one tent per family. We will place two families (or two tents) on each site. The Park does not allow more than 2 tents per site and asks that we limit the number of persons per site (to 6-8 people). Assuming your family only needs one tent, the cost we be $30 per family (site rental fee). You can of course reserve an entire site and use two tents if you prefer more space or have more than 4 members in your family, but that will cost $60. The cost for food is additional, and will be $15 per person. Please RSVP to your Den Leader as soon as possible so that we can get an accurate head count. Money is due by the Thursday, May 18th Pack Meeting Family camping, for cub scouts, as outlined by BSA guidelines, is an outdoor camping experience, other than resident camping, that involves Cub Scouting program elements in overnight settings with two or more family members including at least one Scout of that family.
