The Cub Scout Program - For First through Fifth Grade Boys

The Cub Scout program helps to meet a boy's growth needs.

To learn new physical skills
To get along with boys of his same age
To develop his mental processes
To develop a value system
To develop personal independence

The Cub Scout Motto

The Cub Scout colors are blue and gold.  The blue stands for truth and spirituality, steadfast loyalty, and the sky above.
The gold stands for warm sunlight, good cheer, and happiness.  Together, they symbolize what Cub Scouting is all about.

Learn All About Cub Scout Pack 125

Cub Scout Pack 125 is chartered by the Churchill Community Foundation, Inc., and is centered in Germantown, Maryland [map].  The Churchill Community Foundation also charters Boy Scout Troop 125.

Pack 125 is a community-based scouting group that has been promoting Cub Scouting in the Germantown area for the past thirteen years.  We are part of the Black Hill District, National Capital Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, and have program components for boys in the first through fifth grades (or ages 7, 8, 9, & 10).  Currently we have 35 active youth members (and their families), from the Waters Landing and Lake Seneca Elementary Schools.  Pack 125 provides an opportunity for our youth to benefit from the scouting experience at an early age.  We conduct our program in accordance with Scouting guidelines, and engage the boys in age-appropriate scouting activities and community service projects.  Our program is year round and includes various types of summer time activities, and an optional 1 week long summer day camp experience.  If you decide to enroll your son in Cub Scout Pack 125, he will be assigned to a Cub Scout Den.  Dens are made up of six to eight boys, all from the same grade level.  First-grade boys become Tiger Cubs, second graders are Wolf Cub Scouts, third graders join as Bear Cub Scouts, and fourth and fifth graders are our Webelos Scouts.  Dens meet two to four times a month under the supervision of a Den Leader.  In addition, once a month, all of the dens gather together for a grand meeting at Waters Landing Elementary School under the direction of our Cubmaster.  The monthly Pack Meeting is usually held on the third Thursday of the month at Waters Landing Elementary School at 7:00 pm and parents are asked to attend.  (Remember --- Cub Scouting is a family event.)  Aside from indoor scouting activities, we also encourage adventuresome outdoor scouting activities.  All activities are age-appropriate, and include crafts, derby-type races, field trips, picnics, outings, and nature hikes.  We also try to sponsor one or more family camp-outs during the year.  All of our activities revolve around family participation, and each family can choose which activities they are interested in.  We also encourage physical fitness, with our goal being to have fun.  As with all of our activities, the boys are simply challenged to do their best based upon their ability.

Our Cub Scouts and their families have fun doing lots of things ... like ...
