What schools does Pack 944 service?
Pack 944 has boys from several local elementary schools including St. Johns Lane, Hollifield Station, Waverly Woods and Manor Woods, as well as, several home schooling families.

What uniform should my scout wear to the pack meetings?
Scouts should make every effort to wear their class A uniform to pack meetings.

What uniform should my scout wear to den meetings?
The uniform for a scout to wear at den meetings is the class A uniform although it is understood that he may be coming directly from somewhere else that at times may make this difficult.

What is a "class A" uniform?
The class A uniform is composed of the official, button-up cub scout shirt, with appropriate patches and badges, any pair of matching pants (either long or short), cub scout neckerchief and cub scout belt. The class A uniform should be worn whenever the scouts are interacting in their capacity as Cub Scouts with the general public, or whenever the occasion is considered to be formal or official. For instance, class A uniforms are worn at Pack meetings, fundraisers, and Cub Scout hosted festivals and events.

What is a "class B" uniform?
A class B uniform is any t-shirt or sweat shirt with a cub scout logo, and the scout's choice of shorts or pants. The class B uniform is worn when the occasion is not formal, the scouts are not interfacing with the general public representing scouting, and when the scouts are expected to engage in activities for which the full uniform would be inappropriate. For instance, class B uniforms would be appropriate for a scout hike, camping trip, or athletic event.

Where do I put all the badges which can not be worn on a uniform?
The patch vest is an optional, but very popular, uniform piece that can be worn by Scouts. Patch vests give the Scouts a place to display awards that can not be worn on the official uniform.  Pack 944 typically gives out patches and other awards for activities such as Camp Oest, derbies, service projects and the like that can be worn on this vest. The patch vest should not be worn during formal occasions such as receiving rank awards or the Blue and Gold banquet.

As a parent of a boy currently in Pack 944, how can I be more involved?
There are many opportunities to help the Pack run ranging from regular commitment such as a Den leader or periodic commitment as in running one of our one time outings/events.

Are Cub Scouts active only during the school year?
Pack 944 has a robust summer program to keep the boys of our Pack involved throughout the summer. Regular den and pack meetings are suspended in June, July and August but are replaced with hikes, Cub Scout Olympics, day camp, a picnic, a pool party, overnight camping and other activities.

Are Cub Scouts the same as Boy Scouts?
Cub Scouting is a program of the Boy Scouts of America—so in that sense, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are both members of the same organization. However, they are entirely different programs: Cub Scouting is a family-oriented program designed specifically to address the needs of younger boys.

How often do Cub Scouts meet?
Cub Scouts generally meet in their dens 2-3 times a month, and a pack meeting is held for all Cub Scouts and their families generally on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.  A den may hold a special activity, such as a service project or visit to a local museum in place of one of the weekly meetings or in addition to the weekly meetings.  Our pack also periodically offers optional events such as laser tag, rock climbing and star gazing.

Do we pay monthly dues?
Annual registration for Pack 944 takes place in November at which time we collect dues from all scouts for the year. We have been able to keep our annual registration low by having a single fundraising event of selling popcorn. Out of the funds collected through registration and the fundraiser, the pack pays for: BSA registration fees and insurance for Scouts and adult leaders, training for leaders, badges and awards, pinewood derby cars, space derby rockets, awards, certain pack events as well as other program materials. Some dens may also collect for craft or materials supplies for projects planned during the year.

My son is moving on to Boy Scouts. What can I do with his Cub Scout uniform and other accessories?
Pack 944 has a program to donate your gently used uniform and accessories back to the Pack and we will find boys in need in other Packs in our area.
