Pack 107 Unit Details

LOCATION:  We meet at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2715 Horsepen Creek Road.

MEETINGS:  Our den meetings are held on Mondays during the school year.  We will strive to hold two monthly den meetings, but all dates are dependent on church schedule and will be listed on our website.  Pack meetings occur once per month on a Monday according to our schedule.  Den and pack meetings usually last 1 to 1 ½ hours.

PACK SIZE:  We anticipate a Pack of 50-60 boys this year.

DENS:  Boys are assigned to a den with others their age.  Tigers are first graders, Wolves 2nd grade, Bears 3rd grade, and Webelos 4th and 5th grades.  We like to keep our dens 6-8 boys large.  The small size is easier to manage and the boys get better attention.  Two-deep leadership is suggested for den meetings and is required for den outings (so two leaders per den are desired).

Please consider helping during den meetings either in a leadership role or as an assistant.

FUNDS:  Popcorn sales have done a great job for us as a fund-raising event and we hope they will do so again.  The remainder of our funding comes from den and pack fees paid at re-charter.

PACK ACTIVITIES:

LEADERSHIP:

Cubmaster:  Ryan Strapp [ rystrapp@triad.rr.com  (email)] (Runs the pack meetings, assigns boys to dens, coordinates advancement, and supports the den leaders)

Pack Committee Leader:  Dan Short (Organizes pack activities including fundraisers, campouts, service projects, etc.).

Event Coordinators:  Various parents who oversee pack activities.  Many of our events already have coordinators assigned, but if you are interested, please contact our Cubmaster to volunteer.

Pack Committee:  Committee of interested parents who meet once each month to coordinate and plan activities.  All parents are requested to attend these meetings to assist with planning.  We ask each parent to volunteer for some pack function or event at least twice each year.  That may mean coordinating T shirt sales or planning the Blue and Gold banquet.  For big jobs like our campouts, we request each den to send a representative to the planning meetings to assist.  When we spread out the work, no one gets burned out and everyone has a chance at the fun!

UNIFORMS:  Uniforms build identity and pride as a Scout.  Our pack requires Class “A” uniforms at pack and den meetings, as well as unit outings.  Our Class “A” uniform consists of Scout shirt, neckerchief, neckerchief slide, Scout belt, and blue pants or jeans preferred.  These items are available for purchase at the Scout Shop located in the Royce Reynolds Family Scout Center, 1405 Westover Terrace in Greensboro.  Sometimes Class “B” uniforms (pack or other Cub Scout T shirt) are worn to activities.

REGISTRATION:  New Scouts pay prorated registration and Boy’s Life fees to cover the balance of the first year.

Our pack re-charters with the Old North State Council each January.  For our 2006 re-charter, fees are according to the table below.  Checks should be made payable to “Cub Pack 107” and submitted to our Treasurer during January.
