Pinewood Derby Car Worknight Coming Up January 5 & 6

Our first den meetings in January are devoted to tool training for, the design of and initial cutting of our Pinewood Derby cars. The pack will distribute cars on those nights. The boys are to finish these cars over the next month and have them ready for the official weigh-in during the first den meetings in February. Remember, parents, that you can help, but please let the boys do the project. On January 5&6, various leaders (hopefully some more dads (we need you for this)) will demonstrate proper use of tools and safety practices, and Pack 2 committee member and race director Warren Witherall will give tips on designing a fast car and the rules of the race.

IMPORTANT: Each boy should bring a “concept” drawing of what they want their car to look like. That will allow a fast start on making the car.

Work nights:

· January 5 - Webelos, Wolves -- We’ll need lots of parents’ hands! ·

· January 6 - Tigers, Bears, plus any other boys who need more “tool time.”

Weigh in:

·February 2 – Den meeting and Official weigh-in for Webelos &Wolves. Cars will be brought to the correct weight, and must be left at the Fire Station on that night

· February 3 – Den meeting and Official weigh-in for the Bears & Tigers. Cars will be brought to the correct weight, and must be left at the Fire Station on that night

The Big Race

: · February 6 -- Sunday -- OFFICIAL PINEWOOD DERBY Starts 1 p.m. to approximately 3 p.m. Refreshments available during the race. Bring the family! Thanks for your participation! Please call us if you have questions! Location to be announced.
