Mission Statement

To prepare the Webelos Scouts for the changes they will be experiencing as Webelos as the cross over into a Boy Scout Troop and their parents for the changing role they will play in their son’s scouting experience. An overnight program has been created utilizing Boy Scout-Webelos interaction, Webelos advancement opportunities, and instructional sessions to teach skill sand foster the concept of teamwork.

What is This Webelos Woods?

Webelos Woods is a multi-faceted learning experience designed to educate all Webelos Scouts and their parents about their upcoming experiences and transition into Boy Scouts. The Webelos and their parents will be working with the Boy Scouts and the staff in a variety of hands-on activities. For instance, the Webelos will immediately break into dens and elect their Denner for the duration of the event. They will be introduced to some basic outdoor skills such as orienteering, fire building and cooking, as well as the process of learning from their more experienced peers. In addition to all of this, the Webelos will also have the opportunity to earn the Outdoorsman Activity Pin. Webelos Woods is an outdoor camping event. The Webelos will arrive Saturday morning with their parents and adult leaders. Everyone will go home Sunday morning. Although not absolutely necessary, it is strongly recommended that at least one parent attend with each Webelos Scout. There will be some special activities for the adults to participate in as they learn about the organization and activities of Webelos scouting and the Webelos to Boy Scout transition. The cost for the event includes a patch, Saturday dinner, and Sunday breakfast in addition to the activities.
